It’s All In The Details. Learn More About How Healthy as Heck Came To Be:

It’s been a long and winding journey to get to where I am today, but it’s true when they say that when you look back, you will realize that every step had a clear purpose to bring you to exactly where you were meant to be.

My journey began at the age of 2, when my Mom enrolled me in my first dance class. I fell hook, line, and sinker in LOVE with movement. That love has stayed with me as I built my career as a clinical psychologist specializing in women’s health and eating disorder/body image concerns.  I have worked in hospitals, treatment centers, and in private practice and have met amazing women with truly inspiring stories along the way.

I left the field of psychology to open my own business and around the same time, reconnected with a close friend of mine from high school.  He eventually became my husband and I became a step-mom. Not long after, I became pregnant with a beautiful little lady and since my husband travels a great deal with his work, I decided I would take some time off of my own career to focus on our growing family.

My husband and I "dancing" through this beautiful journey of life together

My pregnancy, along with all my varied experiences up until then, is how this next stage of the journey and this blog were born.  As a previously career-focused and extremely active woman, these changes in career status, my physical body, my hormones, and my mental wellness came with a lot of surprises and adjustments.  Leaving careers, starting businesses, and being a boss have steep learning curves!  However, those pale at times to the challenges and joys of carrying, birthing, and raising children.  Some of these experiences I was prepared for, but for most of them I was not.

So 6 months after the birth of my little girl, I realized it was time for another new beginning and Healthy as Heck was born!

As I look back on this crazy path of life, one thread has always remained the same.

I love seeing women feel good about themselves.

It was the reason I pursued psychology.  It’s the reason I have pursued fitness and wellness.  And it’s the passion that remains behind my coaching practice.  I hope you will join me for this part of my journey and, even more, I hope you’ll share whatever stage of the journey you are on with me via Email, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter!
